El Chaltén, the youngest town of Argentina was founded in 1985. It is located within ¨Los Glaciares National Park” at the foot of the Andes. Laguna de los Tres

This full day trek of moderate difficulty ends in one of the most spectacular places in Patagonia, where you will have the closest views of Mount Fitz Roy. To get to this lagoon there are two different trails, one starting in El Chaltén  and another in “Estancia El Pilar”.

The other great classic in this region is “Laguna Torre”. This low difficulty hike begins in El Chaltén and continues along the Fitz Roy river valley until reaching the lagoon with incredible views of glaciers, icebergs, the Torre massif and the Adela mountain range.

From El Chaltén, following the “De las Vueltas” river, you can access the magical “Lago del Desierto”, near the border with Chile. Embark to see glaciers, among which the great Vespignani stands out. Here you can choose a trail to get closer to this fantastic ice giant.

The trek to the Cagliero Glacier is an exciting moderately demanding excursion. From Los Huemules reserve it crosses a native lenga forest to the Del Diablo lagoon and begins the ascent by a via ferrata until it reaches the Cagliero Glacier where a 3-hour walk is made.

This hike ascends constantly until reaching the viewpoint located at 1,500 meters above sea level (4,921 feet). The summit of Pliegue Tumbado has a beautiful 360° open view that allows you to appreciate El Chaltén, Viedma lake and the imposing Andes.
